#Inktober 2020 engravings
The V-bit is a little stump for smaller details, so the text gets a little hard to read on this small scale,
The second one I decided to try was "Sleep". This time, I wanted to pocket out the area that was going to be engraved to a thickness of 5mm, and then cut out the engraving in a rectagular shape. I also tried out using tabs to hold the cut out piece to it's surroundings - even though that was not necessary when using double-sided tape to secure the workpiece to the spoilboard like I do. It's all a learning process, so you have to try things out, right?
@dimiris_d's Inktober2020 "Sleep"
The cutout profile neatly cut through the material and the double-sided tape, as you can see above.
It all worked exactly as planned! I used a 30 degree V-bit with a 0.1mm flat tip for this one.
Detail on this one is much better than on the first one with the 60 degree V-bit.
A little oil added some more contast to the end product. I call this one finished, and a succes!
These are the bit sets I used for theze carves:
Various bits set: Various Bits from Banggood
60 degree V-bit: V-bit from Banggood
